Today Red Hat released the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta (kernel-2.6.18-155.el5), with versions for x86, x86/64, Itanium, IBM POWER and System z. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta release includes a variety of new features and capabilities, combined with enhancements in virtualization, storage/filesystem, security and developer tools. As with any Beta, their goal is to provide customers and partners with the opportunity to sample and test new features of the release before it’s finalized.

Hidden Internet Browser in XP
Ever been on PC where Internet Explorer was blocked? One solution would be to use a portable version of Firefox on a USB drive, or you can access a hidden browser in Microsoft HTML Help program if removable media is not an option. This was tested on Windows XP SP2 with Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7.
Open calculator. You can do this quickly with Windows button+R on your keyboard, type calc in the run box, click OK.
In Microsoft Calculator go to Help -> Help Topics.
Now right click on the left hand side of the title bar and click on Jump To URL...
Type in the URL including the ‘
http://’
and off you go. Repeat to visit other sites.
Essentially this is Internet Explorer embedded inside of the HTML Help application. Adobe Flash isn’t working in my hidden browser, but a quick visit to Adobe took care of it

Load Internet Explorer the Fastest Way Possible

Edit your link to start Internet Explorer to have -nohome after it. For Example:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE. EXE" -nohome
This will load internet explorer very fast because it does not load a web page while
it is loading. If you want to go to your homepage after it is loaded, just click on the

Increase your hard disk speed

To speed up your hard disk speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the disk.


This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.
Follow these steps:

Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.

Expand the system.ini file window.

Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].

Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type

Irq14=4096

Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!

Click on the File menu, then choose Save.

Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.

Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.

Note:
The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives, however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks. In any case, it won't harm your system, so why not try it yourself and let me know what you find.

Tick Shoutcast TV Listings
Tick Shoutcast Radio Listings
Tick Podcast

Now go to Playlists> Show Playlists

You can see the shoutcast tv listings, radio listings and podcasts.
You can click on it and stream live TV, listen to streaming radio and download podcasts.

2 Rip DVD's

Insert the DVD

File> Open Disc
Select Disc Type = DVD
* Title = _______ (Select the number of the file of your movie, sometimes dvd's have ads) (Ex: 1 - is the big file where the movie is)

* Tick Stream and Save

Select Settings (Button)
* Select the file and folder you want to save it to. (Keep the extension as .mp4)
*Encapsulation Method = mp4
*Video Codec = Div3 , Bitrate 1024
* Audio Codec =mp3, Bitrate 192
* Click OK

Now go to the folder where you have saved, the ripping has started. You can see the file size increasing. It would take sometime to finish ripping, you can see that on the vlc window,be patient.

4 Skin VLC

* Put the downloaded VLT files in the following folder:
On Windows: the skins folder in the VLC installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\VLC\skins)

* Open VLC Settings > Interface> Choose Skin (Select desired skin)

* Restart VLC for the changes to take effect

5 Take Video Screenshots

Right Click on the video and Select Video> Snapshot
The default location for the saved screenshot is your "My Pictures" Folder.

Firstly utorrent is my current favourite torrent download software. Its the best software in smallest package.

After trying out many different settings I am just sharing my best configuration for utorrent. Obviously your best config may be different because of your network and hardware etc.

Coming stratight to the point, I have 450kb/s download with 100kb/s upload. You can check your speed from http://www.speedtest.net/ and make settings accordingly.

Options>Preferences:
Global maximum upload rate (kB/s) = 10
√ Allow incoming legacy connections
Global maximum number of connections = 128 (If you don't have bandwidth then more connections dont mean more speed)
Maximum number of connected peers per torrent = 16
Number of upload slots per torrent = 2
√ Use additional upload slots if upload speed < lazy_bitfield =" *true" max_halfopen =" *40" disconnect_inactive_interval =" *600" write_queue_size =" *2560" read_cache_size =" *2560"> Preferences>Connections> Global Bandwidth Limiting> Maximum Upload Rate (kB/s) (set it to whatever you want)


I have doubled my speed after these settings. And please note that there is a 8fold difference in kilobit and kilobyte.(1kilobyte = 8 kilobits).It took me a while to understand the best settings so I am sharing with you. A well seeded torrent will download at speed of 18.

SHORT NOTE: Seeders are people who have already downloaded the file and peers are number of people who are currently downloading the file. You should have more seeders for good speed.
