Features:

five-megapixel camera, built-in GPS and a digital compass for simple navigation, 3.2in touch-screen, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and an accelerometer that can sense whether the phone is being held in portrait or landscape. It has 512MB of integrated memory which can be expanded to 16GB using a microSD memory card.

The phone has an angled bottom, intended to help it fit snugly against the face while making a call, and a Teflon coating soft-touch finish, as well as a smudge-repelling screen.

HTC said the Hero will boast cutting-edge device-wide and contextual search, enabling users to easily search for people in their contact list or messages in their email in-box, as well as across other services, such as Twitter.

The device will feature a customisable interface of live “widgets”, giving users at-a-glance access to their Twitter profile, the latest news headlines, weather reports, email in-box and calendar. Users will also be able to silence their phone simply by turning it facedown on a table. The Hero will be Flash-enabled, meaning it can surf all web pages, even if they use animation, as well as view embedded video on websites.

The Hero will run the Google-backed Android operating system, which is designed to make mobile phones more like pocket computers by making it quicker and easier to carry out desktop computer-style tasks on the go using a mobile device.
